SITE INVESTIGATIONS FOR FOUNDATIONS OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS

This regulatory guide describes methods acceptable to the NRC staff for conducting field investigations to acquire the data on geological and engineering characteristics of a site needed for a nuclear power plant site application. The guide includes recommendations for developing sitespecific investigation programs and guidance for conducting subsurface investigations. The guide is being revised to incorporate newer practices and insights. Corps of Engineers staff, NUREG/CR-5738, was used as a technical basis for this guide and may be consulted for details of procedures.
