Egyptian Revolution
After the successful Tunisian revolution, the Egyptian people were motivated to overcome the barriers of fears and thousands of the Egyptian youth called for a peaceful protest on 25thJanuary. They gathered in central squares in Cairo. They asked for a political and social reform. They wanted concrete changes in the society to face poverty, unemployment and corruption. The Egyptian government mocked the protests and didn’t respond to the fair requirements. This is what enraged the Egyptians and they took to the streets in thousands after thirty years of silence. It’s worth be mentioned that the Egyptians have been living under very severe conditions for about thirty years. After performing Algoma prayer on Friday 28th, they rushed towards Tahrir Square in an unprecedented scene calling for the collapse of the whole regime which suppressed them for many years. The riot police treated them in a violent way, using tear gases, batons and water cannons as a mean to disperse the people. They even used guns but the Egyptian no more tend to submit. They were very persistent and ready to sacrifice their lives for the sake of freedom. On this day, the number of the people increased and the police were unable to suppress the people as usual ,so they took orders to withdraw from all the places all over the country. Moreover, the interior minister freed all the prisons from all the criminals to spread fear and chaos in the country as a trial from the old regime to threaten people. In response to the protests that spread all over the country, the government blocked twitter, facebook and text messages to stop communication and the floods of people from protesting in the square. Luckily, the stubborn attitude of the president and his continuous refusal to listen to the demands of the people made the people more determined to remove the whole the regime with its top, Hosni Mubarak. They chanted in Tahrir Square continuously “Down with Mubarak”. Thousands of people remained in Tahrir square day and night with others supporting them, declaring that they won’t leave unless Hosni Mubarak leaves. On 2nd February, The regime did another crime against Egyptians to curb the rising movement of the people who were persistent to regain their lost dignity. They sent thugs and soldiers wearing civil clothes to fight the protesters and to kill them without mercy as a way to frighten the people but the people defended themselves bravely. The accident resulted in many victims and martyrs who stood against oppression. Millions of people swept to the streets, insisting on ending this corrupt and illegal regime. The last speech of the president disappointed the people and they declared their stance that they would continue their revolution until they achieve their dream. Finally, 11th February was the day of victory when the president unexpectedly stepped down after eighteen days of incredible resistance and handed the power the council of military forces. Congratulations to all Egyptian who proved to the entire world that they were unique in every aspect during the revolution. In conclusion, we can’t forget that Allah is the only one who caused this success.
