Some tilapia shipments to US halted after Trump's Brazilian tariff shock

'The scene is chaotic for those who export,' said a senior industry official in Brazil. US buyers of Brazilian tilapia have begun to cancel orders, forcing some exporters to curtail shipments after the Trump administration announced a 50 percent tariff on Brazilian imports, effective Aug. 1, two industry officials told IntraFish on Friday."The scene is chaotic for those who export," said Jairo Gund, executive director of Brazilian seafood processors' association Abipesca.Gund confirmed that orders were being cancelled both by US importers put off by the high tariff and also shippers of Brazilian product who have now become very cautious.
