Description |
This hardy fish is probably one of the best Hogfish to keep in a home aquarium. It is one of the last aggressive but is best when kept with moderately aggressive tankmates like tangs and angelfish. Adult Lyretail Hogfish are often seen blowing jets of water at the substrate to uncover worms, snails and other small crustaceans hidden in the sand. As juveniles, most Hogfish should be kept with non-aggressive and docile tankmates. As they grow they will become boisterous and harass these fish and should be moved to a more aggressive system. Will eat crustaceans, worms, snails and small clams. |
Diet |
Feed a varied diet consisting of chunks of meaty foods. These foods include krill, raw table shrimp, squid, clam and mussel. |
