The study aims at finding to what extend the study plans in the Faculties of Education (FE) in Gaza universities have succeeded in developing teachers competencies according to quality standards. The main questions of the study are:
1- What are the main competencies which are necessary to the student-teacher according to quality standards in Palestine?
2- How far do the educational courses at Faculties of Education help in achieving the required competences from the student-teacher's point of view ?
3- Do the responses of the students-teachers differ in identifying the competences according to: Gender , number of studied courses, and the university?
The Analytical and Descriptive approach has been used in the study. The study found eight main competencies which, are necessary for effective teaching in the light of quality standards. The main eight competencies, which include (71) items (sub-standards), were used to build a questionnaire addressed to the teachers. The results showed that the courses, which are included in the study plans in the three universities, do not give the necessary competencies/skills, which needed to the teachers. The level of the gained competencies was under the desired level. The weakness points in the study plans are the same in all disciplines, but Math- students' competencies were the worst. The results showed that the courses of the Islamic and Al-Azhar Universities are better than Al-Aqsa University.
