Mathematics / Writing Teacher – Online Teaching (Education)

Educate Online is seeking an experienced Mathematics and Writing Teacher to join our online teaching team. We are focused on building gateway skills for Career and College Readiness through personalized, live instruction in reading, mathematics and writing for K-20 students. Our Teachers instruct students across the country in reading, writing, and mathematics in an online learning environment. Mathematics / Writing Teacher – Online Teaching (Education)

Job Responsibilities

As an Online Teacher you will work from home using your personal computer, high-speed internet, and a headset with microphone to work synchronously with students all across the country.

Specific teaching duties:

• Instructing students in all grade and age levels in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics Algebra instruction is also available for qualified candidates
• Delivering instruction of pre-determined learning objectives in a live environment to students in a 3:1 student-teacher setting
• Accurately evaluating and recording student performance on learning objectives presented in the lesson
• Completing a short written summary of each session taught to assist other staff in evaluating student performance
• Completing our New Teacher Training, and additional professional development trainings throughout the year
• Working in collaboration with your assigned Lead Instructor and supervisory staff
• Having the flexibility to work from home or office, in a quiet and convenient environment that is conducive to supportive learning

 Requirements

This teaching position requires an experienced teacher who can effectively teach and motivate students in an online learning environment. We are looking for a teacher that is passionate about helping students and has the flexibility to adapt to changing academic needs.

Additional requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree with an active teaching certification in Secondary English, Language Arts, Writing, Math, Algebra or related subject or PhD with relevant teaching experience
• 2+ years of relevant teaching experience including substitute and student teaching
• Ability to pass an annual background check and FBI fingerprinting
• Reliable access to a PC (Mac is NOT compatible) with Microsoft Windows XP or later operating system with cable or DSL high-speed internet access
• Excellent relationship-building and written/oral communication skills
• Proven ability to explain challenging concepts in an effective and motivating style
• Strong working knowledge of technology
• Proficient use of Internet, instant messaging and computers
• Ability to adapt to changing needs of academic programs

Work schedule requirements:

 

• 10-29 hours per week based on your availability, must maintain an availability of at least 10 hours a week
• Must be available during high volume times; at least 5 peak hours are required Monday-Friday 4-9pm (Eastern Time)
• Available for scheduling 7 days a week, M-F | 9 am – 11 pm (Eastern Time), Saturday | 9 am – 6 pm, and Sunday | 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm (Eastern Time)
