Today an internationally-recognized leader in innovative technologies and cutting-edge academic investigation, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is a major Israeli center for teaching and research, with campuses in Beer-Sheva, including the Marcus Family Campus, as well as in Eilat and Sede Boqer. More than 19,000 students are enrolled in the Faculties of Engineering Sciences, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management, and in the Kreitman School of Advanced Graduate Studies.
A Variety of Campus EnvironmentsThe main campus, the Marcus Family Campus, is located in Beer-Sheva, directly across from the Soroka University Medical Center. It is home of the University administration, main library, most research institutes and centers, and all faculties. The extra touches of modernistic architecture combined with a man-made stream running along a Grecian stone pergola with generous tree-shaded lawns create an atmosphere of serene academia. The Sede Boqer campus in the Negev Desert is the site of the Jacob Blaustein Institutes of Desert Research (BIDR), a world center for both research and graduate academic programs in this field. The Ben-Gurion Heritage Institute and Archives are located adjacent to the gravesite of David Ben-Gurion, Israel's first prime minister. The city of Eilat is the southernmost tip of Israel and on the shores of the fabulous Red Sea.
