New Zealand institute applying AI to aquaculture

The Nelson Artificial Intelligence Institute in New Zealand is using machine learning to improve aquaculture, reports Stuff.
Machine learning is being used to detect toxic algal blooms, increase production efficiency on mussel farms, and uncover the cause of whale beachings at a nearby bay, institute directors Brian Russell, Mark Houghton-Brown, and Julian Maclaren told Stuff.
In April, the south island-based institute was awarded NZD 95,000 from the government's Provincial Growth Fund.
The goal is to enhance the region's natural aquaculture advantage and build "world-leading aquaculture and marine projects",
