Wear your seat belt, whether you are sitting in the front seat or the backseat.

Do not distract the driver by touching him or her, fooling around, playing music too loud, or pointing out things to look at on the side of the road.

If you see something the driver needs to know, tell him or her.

Do not tell the driver how to drive—being a “backseat driver” can be distracting.

Do not encourage the driver to be foolish, such as racing another car or driving too fast.
