Abstract:
Twelve barley mutants induced from cv. Numar and cv. Arivat varied in their responses to powdery mildew. Some mutants were resistant at the first leaf stage while others were resistant only at adult stage. The resistant reaction of mutants SA/12 and OA/15 at first leaf stage shifted to a susceptible reaction at adult stage. Results from two years of field trials indicated that Arivat mutants were significantly more resistant to powdery mildew than Numar mutants. Three mutants derived from Arivat and one mutant from Numar could be considered as having field resistance.
