Queen Htshepsut offering nw jars
<!--<!--
This statue belongs to Queen Hatshepsut. It is made out of pint granite which was quarried from Aswan. It was found in the site of Deir El Bahari.
This statue represents the queen in a different attitude; she is represented kneeling on a base, holding in her hands two spherical vessels or round jars, better known as nw jars. These jars used to contain sacred liquid such as wine or milk. The queen piously offers these jars to her father the king of gods god Amen-Re the supreme god during the New Kingdom time. The queen is represented here with all signs of royalty as she is wearing the stripped nms head dress with the uraeus attached to the forehead. The false royal beard is attached to the head dress by means of straps.
She is also wearing the pleated royal kilt better known as the Sndyt with a central tap and a belt over which there are some hieroglyphic inscriptions giving us the name and titles:
nfr nTr nb tAwy mAat kA ra di anx Dt
The good god, lord of the two lands, the soul of justice of god Re who was given life forever
Looking to the facial features of the queen we are going to notice that they are well represented such as the wide eyes elongated with cosmetic line, aquiline nose, high cheek bones and slight smiling mouth. Looking to the body of the queen, we are going to notice that the sculptor was skillful enough in representing the muscles of the chest, shoulders and arms, except for the knees which were represented flat. Moving to the back view of the statue we can see a lock of hair gathered directly behind the nms head dress, it is known as lapis lazuli. We can also see a long back pillar that is mainly for consolidating the statue of the queen. This back pillar is inscribed with a long hieroglyphic inscription giving us the titles of the queen. Finally, we are going to notice recent restoration for this statue especially on the arms and torso.
