The conventional beds

These conventional beds are not of a funerary usage because we found sign of use on them.

The first one with god Bes representation:

It’s made out of wood and the legs are made in the form of lion paws. The mattress is made out of straw mats and lime wash. It is interesting her that the foot board is having an open work decoration which is decorated with a figure of god Bes who used to satisfy gods and goddess since the earliest time but here he is represented in the form of a dwarf with lotus gilded crown, the teeth and the tongue are made out of ivory while the tongue is colored red he is flanked on either side with two representations of two lions. They have the same representation of god Bes and they are leaning upon the sA sign which is a sign of protection.

Concerning the foot board some said that this part is a foot board and others said that it is a head support.

The second one with smA tAwy sign:

it is the same construction of the others. The foot board is divided into three parts by the papyrus plant and decorated on the exterior sides with a papyrus plant. In the middle we have the sign of smA tAwy contains papyrus and lotus on other sides of the sign we have the papyrus plant which is one block while the lotus is three rows.

The sign of smA tAwy:

 It consists of the two lungs and the trachea of the king as they represent the people of Upper and Lower Egypt take their breath fro the lungs and trachea of the king. This bed is made out of wood but it is covered with a thick layer of gold.

The third one with two lion heads:

It is less in height having sheets of gold we have her one different thing that instead of the foot board we can see two lions’ head just to protect the head of the king if it is between them.

The fourth one, the camping bed:

As we know that king Tutankhamen was fond of camping so he takes such bed in his journey in order to facilitate his movement. It is made out of wood and the wooden fibers mattress is made out of papyrus and covered with lime. The foot board is plain without decoration or inscription

Most interesting things:

The most interesting thing here is that the bed can be folded as the length is interrupted by four hinges made out of bronze so that it can be folded. When it is folded it takes the shape of the Z letter.

Two advantages of the camping bed:

We have two advantages of this conventional bed

<!--The mattress is made out of straw mats which is soft for the back and shoulders of the person who used to sit more than ten or twelve hours daily and it is more healthy than the wooden one because wood is hard

<!--It is designed to put the legs up then the rest of the body. This is called renew the blood circulation especially for those people who work had and need a short time for relaxation (the legs will be higher than the head while sleeping) from a medical point of view.
