Background:

Hesire was an official of king Djoser as shown on a clay jar. He was the chief of scribes, the greatest of the tens of Upper Egypt, chief of Buto and chief dentist. His mastaba contained all feature had 11 niches cut in the west wall and contained panels with the figures of Hesire. They were found by Mariette at the cemeteries by people of thinite era. Only six of these panels were preserved; three of them are displayed in the Egyptian museum and the other three are damaged.

The panels:

They were made out of acacia wood showing Hesire in different forms and stages of his life.

The first panel (middle):

It represents Hesire as a scribe wearing a long wavy hair wig and a short plaited kilt. He is represented in profile while the eyes and shoulders are represented in frontal view in order to show the details of the eyes, lips, nose chest and muscles. His legs are represented in profile view with his left leg stepped forward. The muscles of the legs are represented accurately. He is represented in all signs of youth and strength. The torso is represented longer than usual and with one nipple. The eye brows and lids the moustache and check bones are carved in high relief. He is represented holding a staff which is a sign of nobility and some scribal equipment which are two palettes of ink for red and black ink a long pen case and a leather bag. In his right hand he is holding the xrp scepter as a sign of authority and power.

The second panel:

He is represented as a normal scribe in a standing position wearing a curly hair wig, a short kilt plaited with a dagger or a knot holding the kilt to his waist. The scribal equipment is hanging down his shoulder. There are hieroglyphic inscriptions and offering around his representation but they are damaged. They mentioned his titles and name.

The third panel:

 In this panel he is represented in a very old stage he is represented in seated position. His facial features represent his old age such as the wrinkles around his eyes and mouth. He is represented with prominent bones as he lost a lot of weight. He has the scribal equipment hanging around his shoulders and the xrp scepter in his hand. He is pointing to an offering table heaped with loaves of bread and different kind of offerings. He is sitting on a chair with animal hooves either as a sign of power or as a sign of god seth to give him some magical power.
