Tips to Consider when Selecting the Research Proposal Topic

The research proposal topic is considered as the first thing that gives the readers the impression about the contents of the research proposal as well as the researchers themselves. The research proposal topic inspires the researchers to identify the main idea of the whole research proposal. For the readers, when the readers see the research proposal topic, they get involved in the problem or the issue of the research proposal because the creative research proposal can tell the readers about the main idea of the research proposal. In addition, the good research proposal gives the readers the very problem that the researchers investigate in order to reach the most suitable solutions for the problem of the research proposal.

In order to write such a creative research proposal, there are some tips that the researchers should follow. The first one is that the researchers choose the research proposal topic that matches up with their interests. The process of writing such research takes a long time, often much more time than the researchers expect. Because of that, the researchers do not choose a topic or jump onto someone’s research project unless they are truly interested in the subject matter. Investigating something that does not excite the researchers makes the research process far more arduous, and the researchers will likely regret it. In addition, the time becomes consuming as well as the research can also be frustrating as the researchers usually run into unforeseen obstacles.  When the research proposal topic is something the researchers are really passionate about, the researchers write a creative research proposal.

The second tip is that the researchers choose a topic that is feasible. There are many great topics out there, but some topics are more feasible than others. Since the whole researchers have different limitations or restrictions, the questions of feasibility often depend on the individual researcher, but there are some questions that the researchers can ask themselves as the following:

·        Do you have the budget needed to conduct this research?

·        Do you have the know-how needed to conduct this research?

·        Do you have access, or can you obtain access to whatever it is you want to research?

·        Speaking of “choosing something that interests you,” do you have the time needed to devote to this research?

The third tip is that the researchers choose a topic that is “research-worthy”. Most people that begin research have an end goal in mind. Research is typically written for the readers, whether they are a select group of individuals or a broader population. The researchers have to keep the readers in mind as they select the research proposal topic. The researchers may be very interested in a topic, but if it does not meet their intended reader’s needs, the goal of the researchers ends, then it is probably not a good topic to select. Moreover, it will be extremely hard to receive funding for research that does not generate others’ interest.
