
Asian seafood market growth happening 'at expense' of Europe and US

China is driving growth in Norwegian seafood exports, while Thailand's salmon and trout import expansion has overtaken established salmon markets Japan and South Korea.
A shift in global buying patterns is reshaping Norway’s seafood export map, with Asian markets — led by China — driving growth, while Europe and the United States lose share.
While the largest markets for Norwegian seafood exports in November were Poland, Denmark and the United States, China once again saw the greatest growth in value.
Norwegian exports to the country increased 23 percent to NOK 1.05 billion ($105m/€95m) compared with the same month last year, according to the latest figures from the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC).
