ABSTRACT

Borehole geophysical methods were used inside 23 exploratory coal wells at Maghara Area – Northern Sinai in the period from 1980 to 1985.

Imperical linear relation is established between density log and each of ash content and heating value of coal. Another imperical linear relation is established between resistivity log and both of fixed carbon and volatile matter of coal.

This technique would significantly reduce laboratory analytical requirements.
