يتناول هذا الكتاب:

الأمثال الشعبية العربية والأمثال الأجنبية التي لها علاقة بعلم الجغرافيا؛ عن طريق ربط تلك الأمثال الشعبية بفروع علم الجغرافيا المختلفة، والتي تندرج تحت قسمي الجغرافيا البشرية والجغرافيا الطبيعية مع شرح علاقة كل مثل بالفرع الذي ينتمي إليه، ويتضح من ذلك أن هناك علاقة وثيقة بين العلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية والبيئة الطبيعية والموروث الشعبي.

فالأمثال الشعبية ناتجة عن تفاعل الإنسان مع بيئته الاجتماعية بما تحويه من علاقات متشابكة بالأسرة والجيران، وبيئته الطبيعية بما تحويه من مناخ ونبات وتضاريس وفلك، وبيئته الاقتصادية من زراعة وصناعة وتجارة، والحرف والأنشطة المختلفة التي يمارسها، وما ينتج عن ذلك من تجارب وخبرات تتحول إلى أمثال شعبية تعبر عن تراكم خبرات الإنسان وتهدف إلى تفسير الظواهر المحيطة به.

.... علم الجغرافيا يهدف إلى تفسير العلاقة بين الإنسان والبيئات المختلفة التي تحيط به، وهذا الكتاب يوضح العلاقة الوثيقة بين بعض الأمثال الشعبية العربية والأجنبية، وعلم الجغرافيا.
