Introduction to the Arabic writing system
The Saudi King Fahd is one of the most important organizations responsible for writing and printing the Qur'an. The organization has printed more than 320 million copies of the Qur'an. The King Fahd organization spreads its printed Qu’rans around the world.
There is currently some uncertainty about how to write some words. To start immediately with the most important example: Allah (swt). Allah is written with a shadda and fatha. Now after a thousand years it is also said, by the Saudi King Fahd Glorious Qur'an Printing Complex that Allah can be written in multiple ways. First, the well-known way, with a shadda and fatha, but now also with a shadda and short alif. In this short article I try to make clear to the academic world that the last example of how you write Allah is the right one. This has to do with the vowels. Allah should be spoken out with a long vowel, hence the shadda and short alif. The vowel has to be pronounced longer. If you write Allah with a shadda and fatha then the vowel is no longer spoken out correctly and this is a substantial difference in how you write and read Allah.
