Egyptian manager wants Google maps to help re-open factories
A manager of the Arab African International Bank in Egypt recently proposed to use Google Maps as a tool to help re-open closed factories in the country. Tamer Momtaz said he wants to use a color-coding scheme in Google Maps so that investors can easily search for a factory in a particular area.
Owners of shut down factories will enter their own data with all contact information needed. Then, a particular color will be selected for each factory activity and service it provides. An image on the site will appear, clearly showing the factories’ location and operations, so investors can easily find the right factories.
Momtaz proposed that factories choose among three colors to indicate whether the factory has a production line, has a complete staff or produces spare parts.
An estimated 4,500 factories in Egypt have stopped their operations, according to Minister of Manpower Kamal Abu Aita.
Momtaz stressed that reopening the factories is essential in eliminating unemployment in the country
