Unfinished head of Nefertiti
<!--<!--
On the forehead, nose and eyes we can still see guide lines for remaining colors. This portrait represents Nefertiti princess of the Mitans wife and sister of Akhenaton. She played an important role in the arts and customs revolutions of her husband. Her name means (the beautiful one who will come).
This portrait was discovered in 1932-33 in the south of Amarna site. The head still bears lines of an unfinished work. It was intended to be fixed on the body of composite statue by means of long tenon which emerges from the neck. The back of the head is unpolished and scarcely even shaped since it was destined to be hidden beneath a headdress which could only have been a wig closely. Forming the face and the ears were to be invincible. It seems the sculptor was unable to finish his work or had abandoned it. The eyes and the eyebrows are traced in black and have not been inlaid. By the position of the head which is slightly forward, the artist has succeeded in expressing the inner tension of the head.
