-       The wonderful panel showing the geese of medum is considered one of the pieces of the Egyptian paintings .

This panel shows 3 pair of geese feeding on the grass .-

It is made out of painted pilasters . -

-It dates back to the old kingdom to the beginning  of the 4th dynasty , the beginning of the reign of senefru .

It was found in medum , in the mastaba of  NFR M3cT and 3TT-

-This panel is showing symmetry in the Egyptian art , as if we put a line between these 6 geese. Can find that the Right parties exactly equal to the left part .

-The painter of the panel was skilful enough to show the details of these 3 types of geese and how they are different from each other .

The description  of the two front geese .-

-This kind of geese are known as ( Bean goose )and they were very randomly found in ancient Egyptian art .

- The front geese are represented in a feeding attitude and they were represented with their necks stretched downwards eating from the green plantation which is found around the mudy edge of the water .

- The artist was skilful enough in representing the details of these geese as he represented the orange bill giving the impression that they are trying to eat which the lips of the bill ( the front part of the bill are black )

We con also see the details of the teeth

- The artist was also skilful enough in representing the features of the geese . he represented the patterns in the lower part and the out stretched claws as they are stretched because the goose is depending upon her feet in order to put her neck downwards to  eat .

The description of the second pair :-

- This pair of goose is known as " the white fronted goose "

- These geese were given that name because they have a white band at the base of their bill .

- The artist was skilful enough in represented their patterns and the colored bands at their lower breast .

- He was also clever in representing them overlapping each other to give a sense  of depth inside the scene .

- The description of 3rd pair .

- This kind of goose was known as the red breasts goose and it was given that name due to the rusted reddish color found in the upper breast

When looking that pair of  goose , one could say that they are identical but if one closely look one con find some difference between them . the difference are .

1 -  the rusted reddish colour at upper breast of extends towards the neck while in the other one of them is found in the breast only .

2 – there are 4 lines found in the lower breast of one of them which us front one while the other is free from this line

3 – the back goose has 3 lines found in the wing while the front one does not have .

The painter used three dimensional art which  appears in :

1 – the motion that is found in the opening of the goose bill .

2 – the outstretched claws .

3 – the overlapping of the 2 geese with a sense of motion aA sense of motion

Also there is a scene of depth represented in the green plantation which is shown horizontally to make the viewer feels that it is an extended field .

Although  these pieces of art is made of pilaster , but we con see that they are still with their colours in  a good condition ,this is duo to the fact that most of the colour sources are coming from nature .

      The white  colour………………………..  from limiestone

The yellow colour ……………………….   Yollow  ochre

      The green  colour…………………..…..… from malachite

The   black  colour ………………………   from carbo

The artist used to add to these colours water while of The egg and  some glue , then the mixture is left exposed to air and sun for a week he also covers  these paintings with "honey wax" that is why the colour is well preserved and in a good condition till now
