In order to understand this burial chamber we have to know about the concept of death to the ancient Egyptian. Death was considered as an intermediate period between life on earth and the continuous life in the afterlife after the reunion of the soul and the body. Thus the deceased have to be secured in order to survive the journey and continue to live as he used to on earth before death. Real food and drinks were supplied to him on daily basis by his son and a certain priest. In spite of that this food was never touched the tradition continued believing that the deceased benefited from it but in a different way. Later they found out that this tradition was a tiresome effort on daily basis for the son they changed it and offered the food in front of a statue in the mortuary temple. This daily practice could be and missed by the priest so they left the daily duty and enlisted the offerings over the walls of the tombs accompanied by a formula known as the Htp di nswt formula which through utterance could magically change the list into real stuff.
The formula took the title of the king because he was considered the sole owner properties on earth thus all offerings were given by him. Accordingly, after death the formula should be titled after a god related to the afterlife. Usually it was god Osiris and god Anubis.
The burial chamber:
It belongs to a man called dSry who lived in the 5th dynasty. It was found in Saqqara containing a wooden sarcophagus. The chamber is made out of limestone.
