طبقا لإحصاءات الفاو الصادرة عام 2014 أفصحت عن أهم 23 نوع و كميات الأسماك المصيدة عالميا، مع ملاحظة ن هناك 10 نوع أنخفض إنتاجها عن العام أو الاعوام الماضية:
1- Peruvian anchovy
2- Chub mackerel
3- Japanese anchovy
4- Largehead hairtail
5- European pilchard (= sardine)
6- Seerfishes nei
7- Araucanian herring
8- Gulf menhaden
9- European anchovy
10- California pilchard
