PETROPHYSICAL AND PETROCHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF ABU – GHALAGA ILMENITE, EASTERN

ABSTRACT

Geohpysical Well-logging techniques were used at Abu-Ghalaga area inside 13 exploratory boreholes drilled to evaluate ilmenite ore reserves.

Some imperical relation is established between electric resistivity log and both of metallic content ( Fe + Ti O2 ) and impurities (Si O2) weight percentage of ilmenite samples. Another imprical linear relation is established between density log and metallic content of ilmenite.

Variation in petrochemical analysis with depth were found to correspond to some petrophysical properties detected by geophysical logs. Borehole geophysical methods helped in calculation of ore reserves and to determine ilmenite ore grade.
