CEDAW is the UN convention for  the eradition of all forms of discrimination against women. The discrimination against women includes the discrimination of women because of their sex or acts that impedies their enjoyment of their political ,social and economic rights. CEDAW is linked to the Human Right Convition that had been signed under United Nations or other international organizations. The Human Rights refered to in those conventions means equal rights and duties for men and women

When looking at rampant discrimination and marginization of Sudanese women in general and southern women particular, there is aneed for references point. The reference point for the Sudanese  women given their diversity is CEDAW

CEDAW can be use as areference point because many of its articles speak to issues which mater to the Sudanese women. These articles could be group into ( 1 -6 ) which deal with issues relate to the State and methods and Strategies to implement the convention are required to take practical steps to eradicate discrimination against women. While the Sudan  Constitution of 1889 gives equal rights and duties to all Sudanese people, the laws are not near to providing that, cases of women discrimination against are very many, these including her not being able to choose ahusband, make arrangements that are related to the reproductive health such as women to have achild

In Sudan there are no plans to replace the current Islamic laws or the traditional laws with laws that give women equal rights of inheritance and ownership to land and property especially for the rural women

Positive discrimination and quota system for political epresentation

 Remains in papers

Art 6 addresses yhe issue of sexual  trafficking, Under normal conditions, the average Sudanese will feel that, this article have nothing to do with them. I am saying here that it have some thing to do with us. We would be more relstic if we recognize that war is here with all its evils including sexul  trafficking of some sort. We have heard of forced marriage under the point of the gun.of abduction of women and their children. We have also heard of justification for these acts

Artciles (7-8) address political and public life discrimination. To date no Sudanese women have been the president or the secretary general of   apolitical party despite the fact that these are many Sudanese women who have the capcity and the ability to provide such leadership. There have been introduction of the quota system i.e. one third of the seats in the parliament should be women who occupy some of these seats are selected

The undersecretaries of the minisries, who are technical advisors of the government, are men.All women most of the times do not mentioning that the women movement had fought for the rights of the women but the right for leadership within party is still to be fought for

Art (10) addresses the eradition of discrimination in education, which include the content of education material. In Sudan there is no discrimination in the content of education how ever families when press by financial and social prpblems support boys education but not that girls. In the most of the pastrolists and  agro pastrolist communities, girls education is not apriority

What is the way forword

It worth mentioning that women are organized as part of the Sudanese community into various groups. Women groups are organize along idelogical lines or ground some principles. This make if difficult for women to sustain an effective campaign. The most effective way in which the women can campaign together

In order for Sudanese to enjoy opportunities and rights, there is need for social change. It is worth mentioning that the most of Women Rights, that we are fighting to get, are seen by many Sudanese as contradiction to social norms. Achevement of these rights is linked to social change in the community. We have to note here that social change is slow and painful. The relationship between laws and change is supported by community is that when the change is supported by laws, it is faster the when it is allow to evolve on its own. A fast social change in Sudanese community can be achieved only if it is be reinforced by law.As this is the case, the Sudanese women will need areference point that will be use to demand their rights

Your article is absolutely thoughtful and it gives a very good scope for the issue. However, when I was reading this article I felt as if it was looking very emotional to me which is not a bad thing but if it was more than academic it would serve deeper targets
