OSHA's General Duty Clause is the foundation of OSHA regulations. Employers who
have hazards not covered by any standard may still be cited for those hazards under
the General Duty Clause. Any hazard that could cause death or serious physical harm
to an employee is considered a violation of the general duty requirement to provide a
safe workplace.
