ABSTRACT
Research was an appreciation of the standard functions of tomatoes cost in Behira Governorate through the study of the situation production of tomato at the level of the center Al-Dlngat as one of the largest centers of the Behira producing tomatoes and the research adopted to achieve its objectives on the use of method of economic analysis description to explain the most important economic variables associated with the production of tomatoes, and the use of style analysis quantitative measurement of the most important factors affecting the production of tomatoes and estimating functions, costs, and approved the research on field data collected during the growing season summer, indigo, and winter of the year 2010/2011 through a questionnaire personal interviews of a random sample of 120 farmers who grow tomatoes.
The results of the study are the following: (1) The relatively high production efficiency and economic development at the level of three agricultural seasons according to some efficiency indicators (2) The area cultivated, the wages of workers, wages of machinery, seed costs, the costs of manure, chemical fertilizer costs, the costs of pesticides of the most important factors affecting the production of tomatoes in three of agricultural seasons (3) The production of tomato has not yet reached at the level of growing seasons to the optimal size of production, size of the highest profit, which indicates that the trend toward working to increase the production of tomatoes until the optimal size or highest profit that would reduce the average cost of generating unit (4) The arrival of the status of tomato growers Al-Dlngat province in Behira Governorate to the optimal size of production to increase the production of tomatoes, about 18.55 thousand tons, and increase the yield by about 0.16 million pounds (5) Result in the arrival of the status of tomato growers Al-Dlngat to the size of the highest profit to increase the production of tomatoes, about 36.89 thousand tons, and increase the yield by about 24.41 million pounds.
The study recommends the need to do more of sustained effort on the part of scientific equipment and administrative, such as centers of research and extension in order to work on a combination optimization of factors of production used in the production of tomatoes, which would check maximize profits taking into account the conditions of productivity and the natural conditions and the types of land planted.
