رواية من قبل تشينوا أتشيبي

 

الأشياء تتداعى، رواية باللغة الإنجليزية للكاتب النيجيري تشينو أتشيبي، صدرت عام 1958 عن دار وليام هاينمان المحدود في المملكة المتحدة. ينظر لهذه الرواية على أنها أدب أفريقي توراتي حديث بالإنجليزية، وهي إحدى أولى الروايات التي حصلت على إشادة من النقاد العالميين.

1 Chapter 

1- What district did Okonkwo live in? Umouofia. 

2- why was Okonkow ashamed of his father, Unoka? 

Because his father is lazy, afraid of war and blood, poor and always full drunk. 

3- Why did the clan respect Okonkow? 

Beacause he is a strong and powerful person. 

2 Chapter 

1- Why were the other districts afraid of Umouofia? 

Because Umuofia was very powerful and strong. 

2- What happened to Ikemefuna? He was given to Okonkow to look after him. 3 Chapter 

1- Why did Okonkow keep 

 Nwoye?  

Because he didn't want him to be like his father, Unoka. 

2- Why was Nwoye pleased when Ikemefuna came to live with Okonkow' family? 

Beause he found some one to go with and to speak to.Ikemefuna is like his 

brother. 

3- why did Okonknow neverlet anyone see that he was kind? 

Beacause he wanted to show them that he was strong and powerful.This is because he wasproud of 

himself. 

4 Chapter 

1- How did Okonkow break the rules of the week of peace? 

He beat his wife Ekwefi in the week of peace in which all fathers must be kind to their wives and children. 

2- Why did Ezen tell Okonkwo to take certain things to the shrine of the Earth Godess?  

As punishment to please the godess. 

3-Why was Okonkow didn't tell any one that he was sorry? 

Because he want to show people that he was strong.HE is proud of himself.

4- Why were the other villagers not pleased with Okonkwo? 

Because the think that okonkwo did'trespect their godess. 

5 Chapter 

1- Why were the first two days of the new year so important? 

Because the first day is the day of feasting and the second day is the day of wrestling. 

2-Why was Ekwefi so excited when she heard the drums? 

Because the drums remind her the first day in which she saw Okonkwo wrestling.She loved him that time. 

6 Chapter 

1- Why was Okonkwo happy when Nowye complain about the women? Because he thought that Nwoye began to change and he will become strong? 

2- What sort of stories Nwoye like to listen to? 

He likes to listen to sotries of animals and birds which his mother tell him 

3- What was going to happen to Ikemefuna? 

He is going to bekilled. 

4- What did Ezeudo tell Okonkow not to do? 

He told him he musnt not help to kill 

Ikemefuna. 

7 Chapter 

1- How had Okonkow broken one of the rule of the clan? 

He killed Ikemfuna. 

2- How did Nwoye feel when he was sure that Ikemefuna had been killed? Something deep down seemed to break.He whole body went week. 

3- When did Nwoye lose his love forOkonkow? 

When Okonko walked into the house without Ikemefuna. 

8 Chapter 

1- Why did Okonkow think that he had become like a woman? 

Because he thought about Ikemefuna all the time.He was unable to forget him. 

2- Why did Okonkow wish that he had a son like Maduka?

 Because Maduka is agood wreslter.Which means strong and powerful. 

3- How did Okonkow feel after he had talked to Obrierika?

 He felt better and happier. 

9 Chpater 

1- Whey did Ekwefi love Ezinma so much? Because she had nine children died and Ezinma is the only one who is alive. 

2- Ezinma was an ogbanje.what does that mean? 

An ogbanje child is achild that dies many times and returns to its mother to be born again. 

11 Chapter 

1-Who was Chielo? 

Chielo was the pieess of the God Agbala. 

2- Where did Chielo want to take Ezinma? 

To the caves in the hills to see 

Agbala. 

3- What did Ekwefi decide to do when Chielo took Ezinma away?

She decided to follow her. 

11 Chapter 

1- How did the priestess ,Chielo, get in and out of the cave of the god, Agbala? 

She was crawling like a snake. 

2- Why were Ekwefiand Okonkow happy that Ezinma had gone into the cave of the god, Agbala? 

Because they thought that she is not going to die. 

12 Chapter 

1- Was the death of Ezeudo's son an accident?

Yes it was. 

2- What was the difference between a 'male' crime and a 'female' crime? 

A male crime is intended ( not by accient) while a female crime is committed 

by accident. 

3- What was Okonkow's punishement? 

He was sent away from his village for seven years. 

4- Where was Okonkow going to go? He is going to his mother's house. 

5- What happened to Okonkow's compound? 

The walls were destroyed, the animals were killed and the huts were burned 

with fire. 

13 Chapter 

1- Where did Okonkow go to in Mbanta? 

To his uncle's house Chielo. 

2- What had always been Okonkow's one big wish? 

To a leader in his clan. 

3- Did Okonkow think this wish would ever come true now? No, he didn't. 

4- Wat did Uchendu mean when he said," mother is most important of all". He means that when life is bad and unhappy a child goes to his mother's country to be comforted. 

5- What was Uchendu's advice to Okonkow?

 He said to him you must not walk about loking unhappy all the time and

making others looking unhapy too. 

14 Chapter 

1- What was the stranger at Abame and how did he ome there? 

He was the white man.He came riding a white horse. 

2- What did the Oracle tell the people of Abame about this stranger? 

It told them that the stranger would break up their clan and destroy it. 

3- was the Oracle right? Yes it was. 

4- Why did Okonkwo think the people of Abame were foolish? 

Beause they didn't take their guns and matchet when they went to the market 

although the oracle told them that something bad is going to hapen 

5- Was Obierika afraid of the the stories about the white man? 

Yes, he was 15 Capter 

1- Why did the iterepreter say the missionaries had come to Mbanta? To elp the people of Mbanta worship the great and true God. 

2- What did the missionary say about the gods of the clan?  

He said that they are not true gods because they tell you to kill each other. 

3- Why did Okonkwo stay at the meeting? Because he wanted to chase the men away from the village with whips  

4- Why did Nwoye stay? 

Because he was interested in the new religion. 

16 chapter 

1- Why did Nwoye not go two near the missionaries? 

Because he afraid that if is father heard him, he would beat him hard 

2- What did the people of Mbanta think when the missionaries did not die in the evil forest? 

Tey began to believe that the white man's religion had special magic 

power. 

17 Chapter 

1- Why did Okonkwo beat Nwoye? Because he saw him walking with the other 

converts 

2- What did Nwoye do when Okonkwo beat him? 

He left his father's home at Mbanta and went to Umuofia. 

3- What did Nwoye want to do in Umuofia? to join the white man's school.To read and write. 

4- Why did Okonkwo remember his father Unoka? 

Because he thought of his son weakness who is like his father, Unoka. 

18 Chapter 

1- why did the clansmen not worry much about the people who became 

converts? 

Because most of them unimportant people and they did no harm 

living in the evil village. 

2- Why did no one want to kill the 

missionaries? 

Because they think that they were mad and harmless. 

3- How many of the osu became converts? Two. 

19 Capter 

1- Why was Okonkwo ashamed of the clan in Mbanta? 

Because his clan at Umuofia is not as week as this clan in Mbanta. 

2- Did the rules of Mbanta continue to exclude the christians? 

No, they didn't. 

21 Chapter 

1- Why did Okonkwo build a very large compound when he returned to 

Umuofia? Because he wanted all his clan's men to notice him and think he was 

still an important man. 

2- How had Umuofia changed since Okonkwo ad left it? 

The new relgion had come to it and the missionaries had built a church. 3- What had the district comissioner brought to Umuofia? 

A new kind of government and built a new church. 

4- Who helped the district commissioner in his work? 

The messengers. 

5- Why was Okonkwo sad when he returned to Umuofia? 

He heard that some important people of his clan were in prison. 

6- What did Okonkwo want to do to the white men? He wanted to fight them and chase them away from Umuofia. 

7- Why did Obierika think that it was too late to safe Umuofia? 

Bcause the men of Umuofia have joined the white man's religion and they like 

the white man's government. 

21 Chapter 

1- What had the white man brought to Umuofia as well as religion and 

government? He brought trade. 

2- Wy did Mr.Brown build a school? He want to change the people. 

3- Okonkow was unhappy in Umuofia for two reasons.One reason was that 

many people in the clan had accepted the white man and had become weak.

What was the other reason? 

Because his clan was breaking up and falling apart. 

4- What did the clansmen think when they burnt the church? 

They thought the christians will not make any more touble in Umuofia. 

22 Chapter 

1- Why was Okonkwo happy after the burning of the church? 

Because he thinks his clan was still strong and brave.  

2- The commissioner said he had brought a good government to Umuofia.How 

does this chapter show that it was an unfair and disonest government? 

Th commissioner asked for two hundred bags to free the clans men but the 

messengers asked for two hundred and fifty.The messengers would keep the 

other fifty bags for themselves. 

3- How powerful was the new government in Umuofia? 

4- What did Okonkowo want to do to the white man now? 

He wanted to kill him. 

23 Chapter 

1- Some men of Umuofia were not at the meeting.Who were they? Those who left the clan and followed the white man's life. 2- What did Okonkwo do to the chief messanger at the meeting? He killed him with his matchet. 3- How 

 Okonkow know that the men of Umuofia would not fight the white 

man? Because when he killed the messenger his people let the others escape 

away. 4- What had happened to the clan? The clan had fallen apart and it didn't agree 

any more. 

24 Chapter 

1- Why did Obierika want the commissioner's men to help him? 

To cut Okonkwo's body down from the tree and burry him. 

2- What did Obierika say about okonkwo? 

He was one of the greatest men in Umuofia.You made him kill himself and now he will be burried like a dog. 

3- Why do you think was the reason for Okonkwo's death? 

He didn't want the white man to hang him.So he hanged imself.
