Dear Nada,
I am Lobsang Tseten, a 26 year old Tibetan born and brought up in exile. Recently, I had an opportunity to attend a conference in Washington DC with activists from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Southern Mongol, Uyghur community and Falun Gong. As a young Tibetan, I was honoured to represent Tibet, however, I could not stop thinking about another 26-year old Tibetan, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, our Panchen Lama.

I grew up around people who loved me and made me the man I am today but Panchen Rinpoche has been kept away from his people for too long. He’s been denied his share of love and respect but more importantly, his freedom. I don't know where he is, China took him from me and my people 20 years ago. For that long, all of us have been looking for him and wishing for his safe return

Today, 17 May, it’s 20 years since his abduction by China's Communist Party; 20 years of separation and 20 years of freedom denied. It’s also 20 years of  us reminding China that we are not giving up hope, or the fight. We will keep fighting till Panchen Lama returns.

There are no dungeons deep enough, no walls high enough to keep out the message of freedom. Freedom will rise, but we have to act now.
