1- Clinical symptoms:
A- Mortality history:
The mortality records started in ascending manner from
2 nd, October wit average daily 339 pices
Total mortality till now about 1730 pieces.
B- FISH REFLEXES:
1- Feeding reflex: reduced with off food reflex for severely manifested fish.
2- Escape reflex: marked reduced specially for affected fish
3- Some fish showing itching reflex against hard object (e.g. net ropes)
2-Postmortem examination
1- External inspection.
a- Head region.
1- Eye : unilateral exophthalmia with lens opacity
2- mouth: normal
3- Gills: apparently normal
4- Isthmus region: normal
b- Trunk region: scattered inflamed patches at the base of scales
c- Fins: inflamed necrotic dorsal and pectoral fins
d- Vent:: normal
2- Internal examination:
a- abdominal fluids: No
b- Liver: apparently normal
c- Kidney: apparently normal
d- Heart: apparently normal
e- Spleen: apparently normal
3-Parasitic isolation technique:
Selection of severely affected fish which then flashed with fresh water for releasing out the parasites away from fish body.
White flat cylindrical worm like parasites were escaped from fish skin in abundant quantity
4-Microscopical examination:
Wet smears from the isolated white flat worm were prepared and examined under low power (4 xs).
The isolated parasites were also stained by Giemsa stain for accurate examination of its body organs
The obtained parasite was classified to Benebenia spices (fig.1) which considered common marine water monogenetic trematodes associated with marine cage culture.
Recommendation:
1- Changing the net.
2- Formalin bath was done with satisfied result.
3- Reducing the biomass which blamed for enhancing the disease occurrence.
