Acting now, acting together to avoid Climate Change
Global warming threatens the reverse development gains and undermine poverty reduction efforts, the expected impacts of climate change in the coming decades will be largely dependent on the mitigation and adaptation choices we make today. Postponing climate action will exacerbate those impacts that are already happening, and may also be costly and result in greater lock-in of climate impacts.
If we act now, act together and act differently, a climate-smart world is within our reach.
Climate change is already compromising efforts to improve standards of living. Acting now means that we should decrease dangerous air pollutions such as caused
by black carbon and methane, these gases are relatively short-lived in the atmosphere
but are a serious threat for both public health and climate change.
Our world is on a critical path towards a 2 degree Centigrade warming by 2050
and 4 degree centigrade warming by 2100.
Even at present levels of warming, the observed impacts are serious and have effects on human and natural systems.
We need to accelerate the pace of the new industrial revolution.
This industrial revolution is moving in the direction of green technologies, green energy; cleaner technologies in various production processes .
Acting together and acting differently. So there are many benefits to take immediate climate action, and a lot remains to be done.
