Production of high quality titanium slag & pig iron from the processed llmenite ore of abu ghalaga (Egypt).

The reserves , ore types , and chemical analysis of abu ghalaga ilminite ore are given here .

Further, the processing efforts conducted by demag , Russians . egyption geological survey (EMRA) and TIMS are analyzed . the results of these efforts indicated a concentrate having a titanium dioxide % from 39.03% to 44.28% at a recovery from 52.57 to 76.85%. unfortunately these results are not promising to manufacture titanium slag .

Further, a research program had been proposed by S.I. Youssef and conducted by the authers for the processing of the mentioned ore .

The titanium dioxide % of the concentrate obtained by the research program had been ranged from 48.21 to 64.19% at a recovery of 60%

Finally; the smelting results gave a titanium slag of 79.1% (TiO2%) and pig iron of 91.4 for the red type . While the smelting results of the black type gave a Titanium slag of 86.96 % TiO2 and pig Iron of 93.6 % Fe .
