RUSSIA - Rosselkhoznadzor has repealed the requirement of guarantee letters on US poultry processing in case of salmonella detection.
The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Rosselkhoznadzor has developed the procedure to return to the US American poultry that does not meet Russian veterinary and sanitary requirements. Furthermore, veterinary agencies of different regions of the Russian Federation were authorized to decide themselves whether to process poultry at controlled enterprises in case of salmonella detection in it or not.
As a result, Rosselkhoznadzor repealed the instruction of the Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation dated 15 April 2002, which states that meat processing establishments specializing in American poultry processing are required to provide obligatory guarantee letters in case of salmonella detection in meat.
