Academic Biography
Eng. Waleed El-Ashawah is recognized as one of the leading Arab experts in the fields of sustainability, environmental management, and governance, with more than two decades of research and practical experience across national and international institutions. He holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture (Rural Development&Extension) from Mansoura University (1999) and has contributed to the preparation and implementation of several accredited environmental and social sustainability (ESG) reports and strategies, including the Social Baseline Study for Mining Companies in Saudi Arabia (2024), approved by the Ministry of Mineral Resources.
Academically and in public outreach, El-Ashawah has supervised Master’s and Ph.D. theses related to sustainable development at Al-Azhar University and participated in numerous international conferences, including the World Conference on Sustainable Development (India, 2021) and the Circular Economy Forum (Malaysia). He is widely recognized for his ability to bridge theory and practice, integrating circular economy, environmental management, and climate change concepts into strategic visions that promote sustainable transformation in the Arab region.
At the institutional and global level, El-Ashawah is an active member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), serving within its Commission on Education and Environmental, Social, and Economic Policy, where he contributes to developing environmental and sustainability policies. He is the author of several influential works in modern environmental thought, including 'Sustainable Development: Theory and Practice' (2017), 'Scraps in Sustainability' (2020), 'The Earth Economy Coming from the Sky', and 'Our Choice: The Earth', among many other writings addressing the green economy, environmental governance, and ecological footprint. He is also the founder of the 'Sustainable Development – GreenVerse_2050' YouTube channel and an active member of international networks such as the International Federation for Sustainable Development, the Malaysia Sustainable Development Network, and the Doughnut Economics Action Lab. His career blends academic depth, field expertise, and visionary environmental advocacy — all directed toward a more balanced and sustainable future for both people and the planet.

السيرة الأكاديمية
يُعدّ المهندس وليد الأشوح أحد أبرز الخبراء العرب في مجالات الاستدامة والإدارة البيئية والحوكمة، إذ يمتلك خبرة تمتد لأكثر من عقدين في العمل البحثي والتطبيقي داخل مؤسسات وطنية ودولية. حاصل على درجة البكالوريوس في الزراعة – تخصص الإرشاد الزراعي والتنمية الريفية من جامعة المنصورة (1999)، وشارك في إعداد وتنفيذ عدد من التقارير والاستراتيجيات المعتمدة في مجالات الاستدامة البيئية والاجتماعية (ESG) داخل مصر وخارجها، من بينها مشروع خط الأساس الاجتماعي لشركات التعدين في المملكة العربية السعودية المعتمد من وزارة الثروة المعدنية عام 2024.
على الصعيد الأكاديمي والتوعوي، ساهم في الإشراف على رسائل الماجستير والدكتوراه المتعلقة بالتنمية المستدامة بجامعة الأزهر، وشارك في العديد من المؤتمرات الدولية مثل المؤتمر العالمي للتنمية المستدامة بالهند (2021) ومؤتمر الاقتصاد الدائري بماليزيا، إلى جانب دوره في نشر ثقافة الاستدامة عبر الندوات والورش الجامعية والمنصات الإعلامية. ويُعرف الأشوح بقدرته على الربط بين النظرية والتطبيق، حيث يوظف مفاهيم الاقتصاد الدائري، والإدارة البيئية، والتغير المناخي في صياغة رؤى استراتيجية متكاملة للتنمية المستدامة في العالم العربي.
أما على المستوى المؤسسي والعالمي، فالأشوح عضو فاعل في الاتحاد الدولي لحماية الطبيعة (IUCN) ضمن لجنة التعليم والسياسات البيئية والاجتماعية، ويشارك من خلاله في صياغة الرؤى والسياسات البيئية الداعمة للتنمية المستدامة. كما أصدر مجموعة من المؤلفات التي تشكّل مرجعًا عربيًا في الفكر البيئي الحديث، من أبرزها: «التنمية المستدامة بين النظرية والتطبيق» (2017)، و«قصاصات في التنمية المستدامة» (2020)، و«اقتصاد الأرض القادم من السماء»، و«اختيارنا الأرض»، إلى جانب أعمال فكرية أخرى تتناول قضايا الاقتصاد الأخضر، والحوكمة البيئية، والاقتصاد الحيوي، والبصمة البيئية. وهو مؤسس قناة “التنمية المستدامة – GreenVerse_2050” على يوتيوب، وعضو في منصات علمية دولية مثل الاتحاد الدولي للتنمية المستدامة، وشبكة التنمية المستدامة بماليزيا، ومبادرة Doughnut Economics Action Lab. يجمع في مسيرته بين العمق الأكاديمي، والخبرة الميدانية، والرؤية التوعوية المستنيرة نحو مستقبل أكثر توازنًا بين الإنسان والبيئة.
