Stakeholders Analysis

Introduction
Within the context of the MADE project, this document aims at describing the different stakeholders involved in the marine aquaculture sector in Egypt. A stakeholder analysis is an extraordinary tool for the definition of development strategies of a national sector, because it provides a preliminary identification of all key stakeholders, verifying the interests of all stakeholders who may affect or be affected by the future strategies.
This allows emerging the potential conflicts or risks that could jeopardize the initiative, the opportunities and relationships that can be built implementation and ways to reduce negative impacts on vulnerable and disadvantaged groups. In the implementation phase of the strategy, the identified stakeholders should be encouraged to participate in different stages of the project through appropriate strategies and approaches.
This document, that has been wrote during the mission of the MADE experts in Egypt through documentation review, site visit and interviews, is not intended to be exhaustive of all the current and potential stakeholders playing on the aquaculture sector in Egypt, but it would provide an overview on the private and institutional actors.
The categories considered are the following: Marine Fish Farmers, Hatcheries, Suppliers (Feed, Cages, Technical Assistance, etc.) Traders Retailers and Wholesalers, Credit Institution, Consumers, Research Institutes, Authorities, International Agencies and Potential Donors.
All the stakeholders are presented through that key data and information available, and their current interests, motivations for change are evaluated. All the stakeholder analysis is than summed up into a Stakeholder Matrix where are also outlined possible actions to address their interests.
